Wayne graduated from university and completed his fellowship training in Auckland before going on to complete post-fellowship training in the United Kingdom. He has been a consultant surgeon since 1998 and has held a number of directorships and positions at hospitals and clinics in Auckland. He is involved with a variety of committees and professional associations and contributes to furthering the understanding of cancer treatment through participation in research studies and trials.
Wayne was the Clinical Director of General Surgery at Auckland Hospital for 12 years until 2014. He then took on the role of Director of Surgical Services at Auckland District Health Board he was in charge of all the adult surgical departments at the ADHB until 2018.
Outside of medicine, Wayne is a devoted family man and enjoys spending time with his wife, and family. His interests centre around contemporary art, travel, fine wine and food.

Alex trained in New Zealand as a General Surgeon and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He furthered his surgical training in Canada, completing Clinical Fellowships in general surgery and trauma surgery in Vancouver at Vancouver General Hospital; and subsequently in Breast and Melanoma surgical oncology in Toronto at Sunnybrook and Women’s Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital, and The Toronto General Hospital.
In addition to his work at Breast Associates, he is a consultant general surgeon at Auckland City Hospital with a focus on breast conditions. His work there also involves the teaching and training of surgical trainees. Alex works with a number of international surgical, trauma and breast cancer associations. He has an interest in ongoing research in sentinel node biopsy for breast cancer and melanoma, and the effects of radiation therapy following breast-conserving surgery. His research interests also extend to breast cancer in younger women, and breast screening in older women.

Eletha completed her surgical specialist training in New Zealand before undertaking post fellowship training in both Breast and Melanoma surgery in Australia.
As well as her role at Breast Associates, Eletha is currently working as a consultant surgeon at Auckland Hospital, where she is the Head of the Breast Unit.
Outside of medicine, Eletha is focused on her family and enjoys spending time with her young son. She enjoys regular pilates and is a keen cook. Other interests include opera, wine and the French language.

Michael Is a General Surgeon with special interests in Breast Surgery and Emergency General Surgery. After qualifying in London, he spent 2 years doing full-time research with Professor The Lord Ara Darzi. After further training, fellowships and posts held in various countries, Michael is delighted to have returned to New Zealand as a specialist at Auckland City Hospital in a role combining his main interests. He is married to Sarah, an anesthetist and has 4 children. The family enjoys the great outdoors and all that New Zealand has to offer.

Rachael is a NZ trained General Surgeon, who has further specialised in Breast Surgery. Her overseas experience includes a research position at Boston Children’s Hospital, affiliated with Harvard Medical School. She has also worked in a surgical unit in London. In 2015, Rachael was awarded the NZ Breast Cancer Foundation Research Grant and undertook a large scale study, investigating differences in survival outcomes between NZ and Australian women with Breast Cancer.
Rachael works full-time at Breast Associates as a Breast Surgeon. Her interests cover the full spectrum of breast problems, from benign to malignant. Rachael works closely with a group of highly skilled plastic surgeons, who share her work ethics and attention to detail, to achieve the best possible results for her patients.
