Breast Centre History

Breast Associates was established in 1997 by general and breast surgeon Belinda Scott, to provide women with a supportive, caring environment for breast care, and treating and managing their breast problem. She also felt it was important to offer all the diagnosis tools under one roof.

In a first for the Auckland region, the then Greenwoods medical centre offered imaging, blood tests, pharmacy and physiotherapy all under on roof.

At first, Belinda was the sole breast doctor, working with a breast nurse and the support of medical oncology, radiology and pathology to provide breast care. But the breast centre grew quickly, requiring more medical expertise.

Breast physician Sonja Freese joined in 1999 followed by general, endocrine and breast surgeon Wayne Jones in 2002, and Alex Ng general, breast and melanoma surgical oncologist in 2004.

Breast Associates breast centre has continued to grow and offer first-class breast care to the women of Auckland and beyond. Our breast care team now includes three surgeons, three breast physicians, two nurses, a psychologist and support staff.
